Technical Director

Location: South (Milton Keynes / London / Leicester)

Salary: Up to £100K depending on experience

This is a rare opportunity to take full technical ownership of a high-profile, mission critical financial services account, spanning data centres, head office campuses, and a national retail estate. This is a business critical leadership role, shaping engineering strategy, driving operational resilience, and influencing long term client outcomes.

The Role

Reporting to the Account Director, you will lead a senior engineering leadership team responsible for delivering safe, compliant, and high performing engineering services across a complex estate. You will act as the single point of technical authority, Responsible Person, and Duty Holder.

Technical Leadership & Engineering Delivery
  • Act as the single point of accountability and escalation for all engineering services
  • Lead delivery across a diverse, multi site portfolio
  • Ensure resilience, uptime, and service continuity across mission critical environments
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement
Statutory Compliance, Safety & Governance
  • Accountable for end to end delivery, governance, and assurance of statutory compliance
  • Act as Responsible Person and Duty Holder
  • Lead governance of HV/LV systems, Safe Systems of Work, and permit to work controls
  • Maintain a safe, audit ready, and fully compliant operating environment
Commercial & Financial Accountability
  • Manage engineering cost base, budgets, and margin performance
  • Deliver cost efficiency and contract performance improvements
  • Support forecasting and capital planning
Operations & People Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and develop senior engineering teams
  • Drive consistency in processes, systems, and reporting
  • Build succession and capability across the organisation
Asset Strategy & Lifecycle Management
  • Own asset strategy aligned to ISO55001 principles
  • Align asset condition, risk, and investment planning
  • Drive asset performance and whole life cost efficiency
Technology, Data & Innovation
  • Lead engineering systems and data led decision making
  • Champion digital innovation and emerging technologies
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with senior stakeholders
  • Deliver against KPIs, SLAs, and contractual obligations
To be successful you will have:
  • Proven senior engineering leadership experience
  • Background in critical environments such as data centres or financial services
  • Experience as Duty Holder / Responsible Person / Principal Engineer
  • Strong expertise in HV/LV systems and electrical safety governance
  • Strong commercial acumen and contract management experience
Qualifications
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Chartered or Registered Engineer (preferred)
