Bristol

£68,000 - £75,000

A major consultancy is looking to appoint a Transport Planning Technical Director to drive growth, lead strategy, and build high performing teams in one of their core regional offices. This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious mid career professional ready to take the step into true leadership, with full backing to shape a business area around your vision.

The Opportunity

You will take a leading role in expanding the transport planning offer across your chosen region, with full strategic input and the freedom to build a team around your specialism. Your expertise could lie in:

  • Development Planning
  • Active Travel
  • Business Case / Economic Appraisal
  • Public Transport Planning
  • Strategic Transport Modelling
  • Or another niche that helps differentiate the market offering

This role suits someone already well connected, respected, and trusted by clients, someone with a strong existing followership keen to join you in your next chapter.

You'll work closely with senior leadership to shape a long term business plan, with the autonomy to execute it and the support needed to scale quickly.

What We're Looking For
  • A proven senior transport planning professional with a strong commercial instinct
  • Someone who has delivered repeat business and built long term client relationships
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable with winning work, shaping markets, and leading growth
  • A collaborator who can inspire, mentor, and develop technical teams
  • Strong technical foundation in at least one specialist discipline
  • A clear vision for how you'd develop the regional transport planning offering

You'll be invited to present a high level plan of your aspirations, growth strategy, and how you'd shape the market. This forms the starting point for collaborative discussions.

Why This Role?
  • Real autonomy to build and lead your own team
  • Backing from a strong national consultancy with a respected brand
  • Highly competitive salary, bonus and long term rewards
  • Flexible, hybrid working in modern offices
