Technical Architect
6 Month Contract
Location: Home/Andover (Hybrid)
Salary: £700 - £750 per day (Inside IR35)

We are looking to recruit an SC Cleared Technical Architect for a leading technology consultancy on an initial 6 month contract. The successful candidate will design and deliver complex, large-scale technology solutions that meet both business and technical needs, ensuring architectural integrity and delivering to time, cost, and quality standards.

This is a hands-on, senior technical role where you will influence solution design, drive adoption of best practice, and mentor teams while working closely with clients in highly regulated environments.

This is a hybrid role and you will be required to work 2 days a week at customer site in Andover. Due to the nature of the work valid SC Clearance is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design of large and highly complex systems, ensuring quality, performance, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across the project life cycle to embed architectural considerations into all phases of delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance, governance, and mentorship to development and delivery teams.
  • Evaluate technical designs, changes, and proposals, making recommendations and assessing associated risks.
  • Develop technology roadmaps and evaluate emerging technologies to inform future solutions.
  • Act as a technical authority during client engagements, proof-of-concepts, and pre-sales activities.
  • Establish and enforce architectural principles, standards, and best practices, including security and compliance considerations.
  • Support internal capability development, including mentoring junior staff and promoting knowledge sharing.

Experience & Skills Required

Technical & Architectural Expertise

  • Extensive experience designing and delivering complex technology solutions, ideally in public sector, government, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, NAF, or Zachman.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and DevOps/CI-CD practices.
  • Strong understanding of Web Applications, Microservices, APIs, authentication/authorization protocols, and data architecture.
  • Knowledge of secure software development practices, GDPR, OWASP, and NCSC cloud security principles.
  • Experience delivering AI-based solutions, Real Time data integration, or IoT solutions is advantageous.

Consultancy & Leadership Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, able to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience providing guidance to senior stakeholders and influencing solution design across multiple teams.
  • Track record of mentoring and developing internal teams, promoting best practices and capability growth.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to provide innovative solutions in complex environments.

Essential

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in highly regulated environments (government, defence, or equivalent).
