Technical Analyst/Mainframe Developer/Fluent French or Dutch/550 Euros pd

Great freelance opportunity for a Mainframe Developer/Technical Analyst to join a large Bank based in Brussels

Fluent in English and French or Dutch is mandatory.

Applicants must be Belgium based. Remote working can only be done from Belgium

50% onsite is required.

Contract duration: 10 months + (Long term mission expected)

Daily rate: 550 Euros

Role Description

Technical Analysis & Development

• Perform end-to-end technical analyses (input/output/processing) for Mainframe-based applications, ensuring alignment with business requirements.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize Mainframe applications (Cobol, DB2, IMS, GTMS, JCL, EdZ) with a focus on Term Deposit systems.
• Design and implement technical solutions for RUN & Change activities, ensuring stability, performance, and compliance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Mainframe-related incidents, collaborating with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Infrastructure, Business).
• Contribute to Middleware integration (MQ, zOS Connect, SOAP) to ensure seamless communication between Mainframe and modern systems.

Knowledge Transfer & Collaboration

• Collaboration with Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Term Deposit applications and ensuring knowledge retention as SME will leave the bank in 2027.
• Document technical processes, and best practices to support long-term knowledge management.
• Work closely on RUN & Change activities, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal operational risk.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies (refinement, planning, retrospectives) to align technical delivery with business priorities.
• Foster a collaborative culture within the squad, promoting continuous improvement in Mainframe development practices.
