About the role:

On behalf of Thales in Hengelo, we are looking for a dedicated and inspiring Team Manager IVVQ Engineering to join the Naval System Engineering department. Are you ready to take the next step in your career in a high-tech systems environment with a strong focus on leadership, people development and system integration? Then this role might be the right fit for you.

About Thales:

The people who keep the world moving forward rely on Thales. In a rapidly changing and increasingly complex world, customers come to Thales with big ambitions to make life more secure and more efficient. With 81,000 employees in 68 countries, nearly 3,000 of whom are based in the Netherlands, Thales is one of the largest high-tech employers in the field of safety and protection.

Thales supports clients in defence, aerospace, aviation and cyberspace to manage and optimise their increasingly complex systems. This includes a strong focus on digital transformation with core technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Analytics, Connectivity, Internet of Things and Cybersecurity.

In the Netherlands, Thales operates from Hengelo (head office), Huizen, Delft and Eindhoven. Working alongside a broad ecosystem of partners and suppliers, teams in the Netherlands contribute to radar systems for naval vessels, cybersecurity, transport solutions, secure communication equipment, cryogenic cooling systems and advanced R&D collaborations with Dutch universities.

About the team:

As Team Manager IVVQ Engineering you will lead a team that is responsible for Integration, Verification, Validation and Qualification (IVVQ) in the F126 segment. This program is one of the largest and most ambitious naval mission system initiatives within Thales. Your team consists of approximately 25 to 35 integration and test engineers at various experience levels. The work is carried out in line with a clearly defined integration and test strategy.

What you will do:

In this position, you will play a central role in the growth and performance of your team. As a people-first leader you will coach, support and develop individual team members while aligning the team's goals with broader project and company objectives. You will be responsible for ensuring operational performance, developing team maturity and strengthening technical and domain-specific competences.

You will be part of the Management Team of both the F126 Segment and the System Engineering Discipline. Together with your fellow managers you will help define and implement strategic goals, drive improvements and ensure the department delivers strong results. The management culture is built on trust, transparency and excellence.

Your profile:

You are an experienced leader who is motivated by supporting people and building high-performing teams. You combine analytical thinking with creativity, pragmatism and a results-driven mindset. You are comfortable navigating complex projects and understand how to balance technical and human aspects in your decision-making.

We are looking for someone who

  • Has solid management experience in a high-tech environment
  • Knows how to build effective teams and supports individual development
  • Is able to listen carefully, inspire confidence and align stakeholders toward a common goal
  • Has the ambition to contribute to Thales' long-term success
  • Can manage and balance diverse stakeholder interests
  • Holds a BSc or MSc degree in a relevant field
  • Communicates fluently in English, both written and spoken
  • Has working knowledge of German, or is willing to develop this skill (a strong advantage given the customer)

What Thales offers:

  • A challenging position in a team of experts in a dynamic and international high-tech environment
  • The freedom to bring your own ideas and make an impact
  • Extensive opportunities for personal and professional growth
  • A modern working environment with flexibility including hybrid work options (up to 40 percent remote)
  • A competitive salary, travel reimbursement and a tailored benefits package
  • 40 days off per year (PTO)
