Team Manager - Duty & Assessment / Child Protection

Location: Warwickshire

Working Pattern: Hybrid working, 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home

Pay Rate: £41.42 per hour Umbrella (£32.46 PAYE Exclusive)

Contract: 3 months ongoing with a strong likelihood of extension

The Role

Warwickshire County Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Team Manager to lead a Duty & Assessment and Child Protection Team. This is a fast-paced role managing a team of social workers responsible for safeguarding children, completing assessments, managing child protection plans, and ensuring positive outcomes for children and families.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing leadership, supervision, and support to Social Workers and Senior Practitioners.
  • Overseeing referrals, assessments, and child protection investigations.
  • Ensuring statutory duties and timescales are met.
  • Managing complex and high-risk cases.
  • Quality assuring assessments, plans, and reports.
  • Supporting staff development through regular supervision and performance management.
  • Working closely with partner agencies including health, education, police, and legal services.
  • Driving improvement and maintaining high standards of practice across the team.
Requirements
  • Qualified Social Worker with a Social Work degree or equivalent.
  • Current Social Work England registration.
  • Previous management experience within Children's Services.
  • Strong background within Duty & Assessment, Safeguarding, Child Protection, or Front Door Services.
  • Experience managing complex cases and supporting practitioners in a busy environment.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
