Preston is a vibrant, diverse, and expanding city. As our population grows, so too does the demand for our Environmental Health services. Preston City council is looking for a capable, knowledgeable and enthusiastic Team Leader to join our dedicated team.

Reporting to the Environmental Health Manager, this is a key role, delivering services that make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of our communities. You'll be responsible for your own caseload, while supervising and supporting a team of Environmental Health Technicians, ensuring compliance with food hygiene and other legislation, leading complex investigations, and taking enforcement action where necessary.

You'll bring a strong foundation in food hygiene and infection disease control, alongside a practical, hands on approach to management. Your ability to guide and motivate colleagues, manage workloads and maintain high professional standards will be essential.

What we're looking for:
  • A qualified EHRB registered EHP experienced in the regulation of food hygiene and associated activities
  • Developed management, organisational and communication skills
  • A supportive, team oriented approach
What we offer:
  • A supportive and forward thinking employer
  • Excellent professional development opportunities
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • A chance to make a real impact in a growing city

The contracted hours are 37 per week and this will include some occasional evening and weekend duties.

As an employer we like to thank our employees for their hard work and commitment by giving them the opportunity to access a range of employee benefits including flexi time, hybrid working, a minimum of 30 days' annual leave (plus Bank Holidays), family friendly policies, access to an Employee Assistance Programme, Local Government Pension Scheme, AVC's, life assurance scheme, payment of professional fees, discounted parking, bus and rail fares, a cycle to work scheme and access to a healthcare insurance scheme.
