Job Description
Team Leader - London Violence Reduction Service
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Department: Justice
  • Service type: London Violence Reduction Service

Catch22 exists to help build a society where everyone has a good place to live, good people around them, and a fulfilling purpose. We call these our '3Ps'. We achieve this in two ways: first, by improving lives on the frontline through delivery of public services; second, by using our knowledge to change 'the system' to fix the complex web that can trap and disempower those it was set up to help. With the heart of a charity and the mindset of a business, we are uniquely placed to deliver on this challenging agenda.

In Justice, we work with young people and adults in custody and in the community, providing services including offender management, resettlement, mentoring, veterans in custody, victim services, gangs work, and youth justice. We believe that effective support and the right interventions can change service users' ideology, helping them desist from crime and reach their potential.

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Team Leader to join our Violence Reduction Service. This role involves leading a small team of project workers, managing services to support young people and adults in custody. Your crucial role will be delivering interventions aimed at reducing violence and gang involvement among prisoners, helping them lead violence-free lives both inside and outside the establishment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of project workers to deliver the Violence Reduction Service effectively.
  • Engage with prison staff, stakeholders, partners, and service users to ensure efficient communication and case management.
  • Collaborate with prison, criminal justice, health, education, and voluntary sector services to promote and deliver our initiatives.
  • Provide interventions, including early intervention for those at risk of gang involvement and exit programs for entrenched gang members.
  • Assess prisoners' risks and needs, using appropriate tools and implementing risk alerts and procedures.
  • Manage staff performance through supervision, appraisals, and training.
  • Develop and facilitate training packages specific to the Violence Reduction Service.
  • Ensure case management and service delivery within agreed timeframes.
  • Produce reports on departmental and staff performance.

What Does Good Look Like for This Role?

  • A confident, responsive professional able to work under pressure and adapt to change in a challenging environment, maintaining motivation.
  • Ability to build and manage relationships, share knowledge, and work collaboratively with partners.
  • Attention to detail, especially regarding performance and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences and maintain confidentiality.
