Teaching Fellow in Physiotherapy

About the role

We are seeking to appoint a physiotherapist with a passion for teaching and learning and a track record of excellence in practice. The successful candidate will join the Academic Department of Physiotherapy and work closely with the team that includes expert educators and research active academics with a diverse range of specialist backgrounds.

Together the staff deliver two innovative pre-registration Physiotherapy programmes (BSc and MSc) that adopt a blended approach to learning and also contribute to the college -wide interprofessional education programmes. The role will provide an excellent opportunity to develop your teaching skills using a broad range of approaches and learning technologies including the cutting edge Chantler clinical skills centre. You will contribute to module leadership and deliver innovative and evidence-based education on the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and contribute to interprofessional learning for students on health programmes at King's. In addition, you will contribute to a range of authentic assessment approaches (that prepare our students to be evidence-based person-focussed practitioners) providing timely and constructive feedback that aligns with the college assessment framework.

You will act as a personal tutor to assigned students and provide link tutor support to students and their practice educators during their practice placements where required. In addition, you will undertake administrative tasks such as student admissions including interviews and open days.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract of one year.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

• Physiotherapy BSc (Hons) or MSc (pre-reg) Physiotherapy with current HCPC or other appropriate registration
• Masters level qualification relevant to the role
• Experience of working in higher education and/or substantial experience of practice-based learning supervision
• Experience of designing and delivering teaching sessions
• Experience of providing constructive feedback in either a clinical or academic environment
• Excellent knowledge, practical skill and evidence based clinical reasoning of an area of physiotherapy practice
• Knowledge and/or experience of contemporary healthcare issues within NHS and the wider health and social care environment
• Excellent time management and organisation skills & ability to work under pressure to achieve goals and meet deadlines

Desirable criteria

• Clinical expertise in one of the following: neurorehabilitation, behaviour change and health promotion
• PhD level qualification and/or relevant post-registration training
• Teaching qualification
