Hawthorn Primary School is a welcoming and inclusive primary school seeking to appoint a Level 3 Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) from September 2026.
This is a 12 month fixed term contract that could lead to a permanent position.
Start date: September 2026.
Salary:£28,598 - £34,434 pro rata. Actual = £22,362 - £27,549 pa
Term time only.
The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the SENCo to support pupils' learning, development and wellbeing both in and out of the classroom.
Key Responsibilities- Support pupils with a range of special educational needs, including EHCP identified needs
- Work with individuals and small groups to deliver targeted learning and intervention programmes
- Assist the class teacher in planning, preparing and adapting learning activities
- Promote inclusion and positive behaviour, supporting pupils' social and emotional development
- Support personal care where required, in line with school policies
- Observe, record and report on pupils' progress
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, parents and external professionals
- Ensure safeguarding and health & safety procedures are followed at all times
- A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
- Proven experience working with pupils with SEN in a primary school setting
- Knowledge of a range of SEN (e.g. ASC, ADHD, speech and language needs, SEMH)
- A patient, caring and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
