Hours: 8:45am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday Grade: £18,608 to £20,275 (pay award pending) Start date: September 2026

Contract: Permanent, Term Time Only

Watling Meadows Primary School is delighted to welcome applications for the post of Teaching Assistant (Level 2) (Reception and Specialist Resource Provision) to start September 2026. The Role

The Role: Teaching Assistant - Level 2

The Teaching Assistant Level 2 will work under the direction of the class teacher, SENCO and Senior Leadership Team to support teaching and learning across Reception and the Specialist Resource Provision (SRP).

Key Responsibilities

Supporting Pupils

  • Support individuals and small groups of pupils, including children with additional needs, to access learning and develop independence.
  • Promote children's learning and development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and individual support plans.
  • Support pupils' social, emotional, communication and self care skills.
  • Assist with personal care where required, following training and school policies.
  • Model positive relationships, behaviour and high expectations.

Supporting Teaching and Learning

  • Work closely with teachers to support the delivery of planned learning activities.
  • Prepare and adapt resources to meet a range of learning needs, particularly within the SRP.
  • Contribute to assessment through observation and feedback on pupils' progress.
  • Implement specialist strategies and interventions as directed.

Supporting the Learning Environment

  • Help create a safe, stimulating and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support the organisation of learning spaces, resources and displays.
  • Assist with transitions throughout the school day and between settings.

Working as Part of a Team

  • Be a reliable, professional and positive member of the Reception and SRP teams.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to support across provisions as needs change.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents and external professionals.
  • Participate fully in staff meetings, training and professional development.

Safeguarding and Welfare

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all children.
  • Follow all school policies, including safeguarding, health and safety and confidentiality.
  • Be vigilant to concerns and report them promptly in line with procedures.
