Job Title

Teaching Assistant in French, ten month fixed term position.

Overview

The School of Modern Languages and Applied Linguistics at the University of Limerick seeks a Teaching Assistant in French for a ten month period. The post is open to qualified applicants in French and Francophone Studies, broadly defined. The successful candidate will be expected to teach across the discipline of French and Francophone studies in both discipline specific and comparative contexts, through both French and English according to context. The role also includes related administrative, pastoral and pedagogical duties.

Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in French and Francophone studies, including comparative courses.
  • Deliver classes in both French and English as required.
  • Prepare lecture materials, coursework, and assessments.
  • Provide student pastoral support and academic advising.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and curriculum development.
  • Assist with grading, marking and feedback.
  • Carry out administrative tasks related to course management.
Qualifications
  • Holder of an advanced qualification (e.g., master's degree) in French or Francophone Studies.
  • Demonstrated academic experience in teaching French and/or Francophone subjects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in French teaching.
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary teaching environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive education and student support.
Contract & Salary

Ten month fixed term contract, pro rated salary of €38,890 per annum.

Benefits & Conditions
