Pay Rate: £107.71 - £111.85 per day
Contract: Full-time Term Time Only

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in Stockport, SK12 1AA, supporting pupils of primary school age.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience within a specialist school environment, developing valuable skills in behaviour management, safeguarding, communication and supporting children with additional needs.
You will work closely with experienced teachers and support staff to help pupils overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and engage positively with education.
The RoleAs a Graduate Learning Support Assistant, you will:
Provide one-to-one and small group support to primary-aged pupils with SEMH and additional needs.
Support pupils to access and engage with learning both inside and outside the classroom.
Build positive, trusting relationships with children and act as a consistent and positive role model.
Work alongside the class teacher to support engaging and differentiated learning activities.
Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour, confidence and independence.
Promote positive behaviour through calm, consistent and nurturing approaches.
Implement individual learning and behaviour support strategies.
Encourage pupils to develop their social skills, resilience and communication.
Support children during transitions, break times, lunchtimes and other activities throughout the school day.
Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff and other professionals to support pupil progress.
Has recently completed, or is due to complete, a degree in any subject.
Has a genuine interest in working with children and young people.
Is considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, psychology, counselling, social work, SEND or another child-focused profession.
Is patient, calm and confident when supporting children with behavioural or emotional challenges.
Can build strong and positive relationships with primary-aged pupils.
Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Is resilient, adaptable and eager to learn.
Has a genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
Previous school experience is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from graduates with transferable experience gained through university placements, volunteering, tutoring, coaching, mentoring, childcare, youth work, care or other relevant settings.
