Job Description

Location St Mary's Roman Catholic Primary School, Osbaldeston, Longsight Road, Osbaldeston, Blackburn, BB2 7HX (65 on roll) Tel: School website: Summary The Governors of St Mary's RC Primary School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated teaching assistant who has a passion for working with children and wants to ensure they learn, progress and reach their potential. The contract is initially on a temporaryfixed term basis but may be extended depending on budget.

If appointed you will work across the school to support the learning of children under the direction of the class teacher, as well as working with individual and small groups of children out of the classroom. You will also support children and staff over lunchtime. You will be part of a team of teaching assistants and teachers who share a commitment to providing the best possible education to all of the students at St Mary's. The job is demanding, but extremely fulfilling as you know you are making a difference to the lives of the children you are working with.

The hours of work are Monday to Friday 8.45am - 1pm.

We have a team of dedicated and hard-working staff and an effective governing body, who are determined for our children to believe, achieve and flourish in school. We also have a supportive parent community, and we enjoy good links with the local community and the Parish of Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs.

We are looking for someone who will:

  • Promote positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff.
  • Have high expectations for pupil learning, behaviour and attainment.
  • Have a creative and practical approach to learning.
  • Have a good working knowledge of the primary curriculum with excellent Numeracy and Literacy skills with experience of working across the school.
  • Have experience of working with a range of Special Educational and behavioural needs.
  • Be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and to a high standard both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to assist in the assessment, monitoring and recording of pupil progress and developmental needs.
  • Support learning in the classroom.
  • Wants to continually develop their skills and knowledge.
  • Uphold the values of the School.

This position is part time, term time only 21.25 hours per week. Please note the salary quoted is full time equivalent. If successful, the salary received will be paid on a pro rata basis. The contract is initially on temporarybut may be extended depending on budget.

Essential Qualifications
  • English and Maths GCSE (or equivalent)
  • TA qualification NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent)
Desirable Qualifications
  • First Aid qualification
  • Current Safeguarding training
Essential Experience
  • Experience of working with children
Desirable Experience
  • Experience of working with children in different year groups
