As a SEND ASD/ADHD Specialist Teaching Assistant, you'll be responsible for providing tailored academic and emotional assistance to a diverse group of students, fostering their social, cognitive, and behavioural development. Your tasks may include:

  • Delivering one-on-one or small-group interventions to support students' specific learning needs
  • Adapting lesson materials and teaching strategies to cater to the unique learning styles of students with ASD and ADHD
  • Collaborating with teachers to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs)
  • Providing behaviour management support and implementing positive behaviour strategies
  • Assisting with the delivery of sensory-based activities and interventions
  • Maintaining detailed records of student progress and communicating with parents/carers

To excel in this position, you'll need to possess a genuine understanding of the challenges faced by students with ASD and ADHD, as well as the patience, creativity, and problem-solving skills to overcome them. Experience working in a SEND setting is highly desirable, and knowledge of evidence-based teaching methods for neurodiverse learners would be an asset.
