Our client is a fast-growing, independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers who provide audit, accounting, tax, advisory and business support services to a broad range of SMEs, owner-managed businesses, corporate groups and private clients.

Due to the planned departure of a long-serving Senior Manager, they are looking to appoint a Mixed Tax professional to join our growing tax team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious tax professional seeking greater client exposure, advisory work and long-term progression within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role

This position will suit an experienced tax professional with a strong Personal Tax and Corporate Tax background who is looking to develop both their technical expertise and client-facing responsibilities.

The role will involve a blend of compliance and advisory work, with an approximate split of 60% Corporate Tax and 40% Personal Tax.

You will work closely with Partners and senior members of the tax team, supporting a varied client portfolio ranging from entrepreneurial businesses and owner-managed companies through to larger corporate groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review Corporation Tax Returns for a diverse client portfolio.
  • Manage corporate tax compliance work and ensure all filing deadlines are met.
  • Prepare and review Self-Assessment Tax Returns for directors, shareholders and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Assist with tax advisory projects and planning assignments.
  • Advise clients on tax compliance requirements and potential tax liabilities.
  • Support clients with corporation tax enquiries and liaise with HMRC.
  • Work on complex corporate tax matters including:
    • Group structures
    • Quarterly Instalment Payments (QIPs)
    • Pillar Two considerations
    • Corporate restructuring projects
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Supervise, coach and support junior members of the tax team.
  • Conduct technical tax research and assist with specialist projects.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across both offices and wider service lines.

About You

We are interested in speaking with candidates who have:

  • ATT, CTA, ACA or ACCA qualification.
  • Strong Corporate Tax experience gained within an accountancy practice environment.
  • Experience preparing and/or reviewing Corporation Tax Returns.
  • Experience preparing and/or reviewing Self Assessment Tax Returns
  • Exposure to larger corporate groups and complex tax matters.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to a wider team.
  • A proactive and commercial approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff would be advantageous.
