Tax Partner

Are you an experienced senior tax professional ready to step into a leadership role with real influence? Do you want to join a long-established and ambitious accountancy practice where you can shape the tax service line, drive growth, and support a diverse client base?

This is an outstanding opportunity for a Tax Partner to join a respected firm in Stoke-on-Trent. You'll play a key role in firmwide strategy, lead high-level advisory projects, mentor an established tax team, and contribute to the continued growth and success of the practice.

The Role

As Tax Partner, you'll take on a senior leadership position within the firm, offering technical direction, strategic oversight, and commercial guidance.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading the firm's tax offering across compliance and advisory services
  • Managing a portfolio of high-value clients, including owner-managed businesses, groups, high-net-worth individuals, and entrepreneurs
  • Delivering advanced advisory work including corporate restructuring, succession planning, remuneration planning, CGT/IHT planning, shareholder issues, and business transactions
  • Acting as the primary technical expert within the tax department
  • Supporting the growth of the practice through business development, networking, and strategic initiatives
  • Overseeing quality, risk management, and technical excellence across the tax service line
  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing tax managers, seniors, and trainees
  • Working closely with fellow Partners to drive firmwide performance and long-term strategy

This is a senior role offering full autonomy, visibility, and the chance to shape the future direction of the tax practice.

About You
  • Be CTA qualified (or ACA/ACCA with extensive tax expertise)
  • Have significant experience in a senior tax role within a UK accountancy practice
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge across both personal and corporate tax
  • Be confident advising on complex tax matters and leading advisory projects
  • Possess excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Be commercially minded with a strong understanding of client needs and opportunities
  • Have proven leadership ability, with experience mentoring and developing tax teams
  • Bring strategic thinking, a proactive approach, and a desire to influence firm growth

This role suits a Tax Director looking for Partnership or an existing Partner seeking a fresh and forward-thinking environment.

The Firm

You'll join a well-established, respected accountancy and advisory practice with a strong presence across Staffordshire and the Midlands. The firm supports a diverse client base ranging from ambitious SMEs to long-standing family businesses and growing groups.

The culture is collaborative, modern, and people-first-where partners are hands-on, supportive, and focused on delivering exceptional client service. The firm continues to grow organically and through investment in strong leaders, providing opportunities for future development and strategic influence.

What's on Offer
  • Competitive Partner-level package
  • Hybrid working and flexible arrangements
  • Influence over firmwide strategy and direction
  • Strong, established tax team ready for leadership and development
  • Autonomy to grow the tax department and shape service offerings
  • A supportive, progressive partner group
The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity for a senior tax leader to join a respected, ambitious practice at Partner level. If you want influence, autonomy, high-quality work, and the ability to shape the long-term growth of a tax function, this role could be your ideal next step.
