Gavin Kendall from Reed Practice is partnering with a leading independent accountancy firm with a strong reputation for excellence and continued growth, in the search for an experienced Tax Manager to lead their Personal Tax offering in Scarborough.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong and commercially minded tax professional to take ownership of a key department, combining hands-on client advisory work with team leadership and strategic input.

The OpportunityAs Tax Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and developing the firm's Personal Tax function. You will lead from the front, providing expert advice to clients while mentoring and developing a growing team.

Your responsibilities will include:• Leading, mentoring, and developing a team of Tax Seniors and Trainees, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration• Acting as a trusted adviser to a diverse client base, including individuals, partnerships, trusts, and estates• Identifying and delivering complex tax planning opportunities and providing technical expertise on bespoke advisory projects• Overseeing personal tax compliance processes and ensuring the highest standards across client portfolios• Managing HMRC enquiries and compliance checks with confidence and professionalism• Driving operational efficiency through effective billing management and WIP reviews

Gavin is keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:• A minimum of 5 years' experience in a tax-focused role within practice or a similar professional environment• ATT / CTA qualified (or equivalent), or working towards qualification• Strong technical expertise in personal tax• Proven experience in leading or mentoring teams• A client-focused approach, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships• Commercial awareness and a proactive mindset
