Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Windows Systems Administrator to support a large-scale, enterprise-wide File Share Security and Migration initiative. This role focuses on securing, maintaining, and migrating file systems across Windows Servers and NAS appliances. The successful candidate will work across both on-premises and cloud environments, including Azure File Services and OneDrive.
This is a hands-on, technical contract role ideal for someone with strong file share administration Experience and a solid understanding of security remediation within enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and maintain file systems on Windows Servers and NAS devices, including NTFS, CIFS, and hybrid share structures.
- Support and execute migration efforts to Azure File Services, Azure Sync, and OneDrive.
- Conduct open-share scanning and remediation to align with enterprise security standards.
- Run, maintain, and modify existing PowerShell scripts used to scan NAS environments for open or misconfigured shares.
- Review scanning results, track open shares, maintain documentation, and coordinate remediation with share owners.
- Participate in planning and delivery of large-scale file share migration projects.
- Maintain and support administrative tools such as TreeSize and Security Explorer.
- Operate effectively across hybrid environments using Azure Recovery Services Vault, Sync Services, and Azure Storage Accounts.
Candidates must have 3-5+ years of Experience in the following areas (applications with less Experience will not be considered):
- Windows Systems Administration in an enterprise environment.
- Strong understanding of NTFS permissions, file share structures, and security controls.
- Experience supporting file share security, migration, or remediation initiatives.
- Good working knowledge of Active Directory, including Global Groups and Domain Local Groups.
- Ability to interpret and manage permission models across heterogeneous storage platforms.
- Hands-on Experience with Azure File Shares, Azure Sync, and hybrid cloud/on-prem storage architectures.
- Familiarity with tools such as TreeSize and Security Explorer.
- Intermediate PowerShell skills (particularly for updating existing scripts).
- Experience contributing to enterprise migration planning and documentation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management-especially when working with share owners on access remediation.
- Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a project-focused environment.
