Job Description

Kando are seeking a Systems Test Engineer to work on a highly classified project with global importance.


This role is combining technical depth in infrastructure and networking with hands-on system testing and evaluation.


You will be involved in validating interoperability across multinational systems. The role requires a strong understanding of system architectures and networking, as well as a collaborative mindset suited to high-security, mission-critical environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design, prepare, and execute integration tests based on FMN spiral development (starting with Spiral 4)
  • Participate in joint testing with other countries, including planning, execution, and evaluation
  • Analyze results, identify system issues, and contribute to technical documentation
  • Develop and maintain test plans, scripts, and reports
  • Offer guidance on testing tools, automation, and process improvement
  • Occasionally travel for test events or coordination with NATO partners


Technical Skills Required


Infrastructure & Systems

  • Proficient with Linux, Windows Server, and Desktop environments
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and virtualization platforms (e.g., Nutanix)


Networking & Security

  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP
  • Practical experience with routing (BGP, ISIS) and switching
  • Firewall management experience (preferably Juniper SRX)
  • Familiarity with LAN/WAN environments, PKI, and NTP


Scripting & Automation

  • Working knowledge of PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible


Monitoring & Diagnostic Tools

  • Experience with tools such as Wireshark and PRTG Network Monitor


Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical skills and a methodical approach to problem-solving
  • Effective communicator in both Dutch and English
  • Self-motivated and able to operate both independently and within teams
  • Able to prioritize and remain composed under pressure
  • Comfortable with flexible working hours and occasional travel

Security Requirements

  • You must hold Dutch nationality and possess a valid Dutch passport
  • Fluency in Dutch (spoken and written) is mandatory

Detavast construction. 6-months freelance, then employment.

Mostly on-site in Amersfoort

Starting 1st August

40 hours per week

Circa 85EURO /hour
