Roles and Responsibilities- Involved in the transfer and setup of deployed CIS installations during operational handovers of Standing Naval Forces (SNF) NATO flagships.
- Provides remote support to Flagships of nations involved in SNF.
- Assists the Core Section Head with daily System Administration (SA) of Hardware (HW) and Software (SW), including managing MS Windows Server, Active Directory Services, DNS, and DHCP servers.
- Supports day-to-day System Administration of VMware Virtualization technology, including installation and troubleshooting of ESX hosts.
- Assists with Storage Area Network (SAN) management, including routine backups as per SLA and SOPs.
- Maintains technical and service documentation related to assigned systems.
- Collaborates closely with other technicians and engineers within the CSU and the wider NCI Agency.
Mandatory:
- Practical experience with VMware virtualization technology, including configuration, upgrades, and deployment.
- Experience in configuring iSCSI targets for virtualized environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Server Technologies, including Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange.
- Knowledge of the ITIL IT service management framework.
- Experience with Incident and Problem Management processes.
- Ability to produce technical documentation and user guides.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills, using rigorous logic to find effective solutions and identify hidden issues.
- Customer-focused approach, prioritizing customer needs and satisfaction, maintaining high standards, and building effective relationships.
- Practical experience with VMware virtualization, including VCSA configuration, ESX upgrades, and bare-metal deployment.
- Ability to deploy rapidly to resolve issues on mission-critical virtualized systems.
