Job Description

We are looking for a Survey Manager who will lead our Engineering Survey teams on the HARP Project, translating high-level strategy into seamless site execution.

  • Degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related geospatial field. (Candidates with an HNC/BTEC and 10+ years of proven leadership experience will be considered).
  • Professional Member (MRICS) or Fellow (FCICES) status is highly desirable.
  • Valid CSCS card (Manager level preferred) and a full UK Driving Licence.
  • Advanced user of AutoCAD, Excel, and 3D processing software. Familiarity with BIM coordination software and GIS platforms is a distinct advantage.
  • Expert knowledge of modern geospatial hardware (Robotic Total Stations, GNSS, Laser Scanners, Mobile Mapping, UAV9s) and their associated processing workflows.
  • Exceptional ability to interpret complex Engineering Drawings, BIM models, Project Programmes, and QA procedures.
  • Proven track record of managing or supervising multi-disciplinary survey teams on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Highly developed communication skills with the ability to manage client expectations, prepare commercial quotations, and report to senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on "right-first-time" delivery and clash prevention.
  • Experience in Automated Monitoring Systems or UAV/Mobile Mapping workflows.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme).

  • Lead daily operations for surveying and monitoring teams, ensuring high-quality, "right-first-time" delivery.
  • Effectively allocate personnel and high-spec equipment to align with the construction programme and prevent project delays.
  • Define and implement Standard Methods & Procedures (SM&Ps) and strategies that comply with industry best practice and project-specific requirements.
  • Develop and review monthly survey budgets, assessing actual costs against forecasts and reporting variances to senior leadership.
  • Champion Clash Prevention through spatially coordinated data in full accordance with the project's BIM Policy.
  • Advise on and implement cutting-edge survey methods (e.g., UAVs, laser scanning, and mobile mapping) to drive next-generation efficiency.
  • Promote a culture of innovation and upskilling to ensure the project remains at the forefront of geospatial best practices.
  • Implement the Safety Management System and ensure all staff are briefed on Environmental Policies and site-specific risk assessments.
  • Oversee the accuracy and timely delivery of all setting out and survey data, ensuring full QA procedures are followed.
  • Oversee the flow of survey data into project Digital Twins to support real-time asset management and compliance.
  • Manage the deployment and data streams of Wireless Remote Condition Monitoring systems (e.g., World Sensing) for critical project infrastructure.
  • Use geospatial analytics to help project teams move from reactive to predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Actively drive Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives within the survey department to meet modern procurement and social value requirements.
  • Lead the briefing and technical guidance of 3rd parties to ensure their survey software and data outputs are fully interoperable with project systems
