Job Description

We are currently hiring a Surgical Registrar for a leading Hospital in Dublin, Ireland. This is a full-time, fixed-term position .
- Work under the supervision of the Surgical Consultant to deliver a high-quality General Surgical service and support clinical duties.
- Admit and assess patients from the Emergency Department using electronic patient record systems (e.g., Meditech).
- Participate in daily ward rounds with the surgical team and ensure continuity of care through effective handovers.
- Review patients regularly, implement care plans, and elevate any clinical concerns to the Consultant promptly.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and legible clinical documentation and patient records.
- Order and interpret investigations (radiology, laboratory tests, etc.) in line with patient care plans.
- Assist in operating theatre duties and respond appropriately to clinical emergencies or adverse incidents.
- Supervise, support, and provide clinical guidance to junior doctors, including SHOs and Interns.
- Participate in audits, research, quality improvement initiatives, and adhere to hospital policies, safety, and infection control standards.
- Contribute to teaching and training of medical students, interns, and colleagues, while supporting ongoing professional development and education programs.
- MRCS qualification or equivalent is desirable.
- Current registration with the Irish Medical Council is essential.
- Minimum of one year's experience at Registrar level in an acute hospital setting.
- Experience in teaching, quality improvement initiatives, and robotic surgery is advantageous.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Strong ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
