We are supporting an NHS Trust in the West Midlands with the appointment of a Locum Consultant Ophthalmologist (Oculoplastics).

This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified Consultant Ophthalmologist with Oculoplastics experience to join an established Ophthalmology service and provide high-quality specialist care to patients across the Trust.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery of safe and effective Ophthalmology services throughout the assignment, with working arrangements as per rota.

The successful candidate will provide Consultant-level Ophthalmology services with a focus on Oculoplastics.

The role will include:

• Assessment and management of patients with a range of Ophthalmic and Oculoplastic conditions
• Providing Consultant-level clinical decision-making, diagnosis and treatment
• Undertaking specialist Oculoplastics clinics and assessments
• Performing appropriate Oculoplastic procedures as required
• Providing specialist advice and support to colleagues across the multidisciplinary team
• Working collaboratively with Ophthalmology, surgical, medical and wider multidisciplinary colleagues
• Supporting junior medical staff where required
• Maintaining accurate and comprehensive clinical documentation
• Contributing to clinical governance, audit and service improvement activities
• Ensuring safe, high-quality and patient-centred care

• Full GMC registration with licence to practise
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Ophthalmology, or relevant experience for a locum appointment
• Previous NHS Consultant-level experience in Ophthalmology
• Specialist experience in Oculoplastics
• Broad experience assessing and managing Ophthalmic and Oculoplastic conditions
• Appropriate experience in Oculoplastic procedures
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent communication and clinical decision-making skills
• Commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centred care

• Previous experience working within an NHS Ophthalmology department
• Experience across a broad range of Oculoplastic services
• Experience in Oculoplastic clinics and theatre
• Teaching and supervision experience
• Experience in clinical audit, governance or service improvement

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established NHS Ophthalmology department on a locum basis.
