POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for overseeing the affordable housing portfolio, supporting the development of new housing projects across the Continuum and supporting community housing providers. The supervisor will work collaboratively with internal and external partners, implement development processes, support land acquisition and construction processes, oversee operations and service agreements with existing housing providers, and supervise a team of professionals to ensure the timely completion of various projects

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Post-secondary education in land use planning, public administration or other related programs, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in the development of housing solutions/projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of planning processes; public consultation processes; design, land development and delivery processes; project tendering; operational processes related to real estate development and construction; municipal land disposition processes, appraisal, and land transfer processes; and housing providers.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills with demonstrated proficiency in handling politically sensitive matters, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on interpreting legislation, policies/ procedures and developing/implementing effective responses/solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, statutes and regulations related to the Planning Act, Building Code, Development Charges Act, Municipal Act, Housing Services Act and Residential Tenancies Act, in addition to general knowledge of legislation for other Human Services program areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork, lead and empower teams and guide effective project development, delivery, and evaluation.
