About Duke of York's

Opened on 22 September 1910, the Grade II-listed Duke of York's is the UK's oldest purpose-built cinema, verified by the Cinema Theatres Association. Over its history, it has evolved from an Edwardian Picture Palace to a 'fleapit' and now a leading independent Brighton cinema. Built at a cost of £3,000 by actress-manager Violet Melnotte-Wyatt on the site of the Amber Ale Brewery, parts of which still remain. It has operated as an arts cinema since 1981 and has hosted various events, including punk rock concerts. After restoration by Picturehouse in 1994, it was returned to its former glory.

Please note, the role requires working 20 hours per week, including evenings and weekends, across any of the seven days.
