Job Description

A new pharmacy supply and dispensing provision is being created to service wards and community services at RDaSH. This has created the opportunity to build a new team to make it happen. This is a unique opportunity to be part of something from the ground up: shaping a modern, efficient, and patient-focused pharmacy service that directly supports the care delivered across our hospitals and community teams.

We're creating a dedicated dispensary hub at our Tickhill Road site in Doncaster to improve access to medicines, enhance patient experience, and strengthen resilience across our supply chain. You'll be joining a forward-thinking team that values innovation, professional growth, and collaboration which will enable you to play a key role in improving how patients receive their medication.

Looking ahead, the Trust intends to establish a wholly owned subsidiary by 2027 to take this service to the next level. Initially you will be employed by Flourish Enterprises and will be transferred to the new subsidiary on the same terms & conditions, once the business has been registered. Over time the business may expand into new markets such as community pharmacy and care home services, creating even more opportunities for career development and innovation.

If you are passionate about making a difference, helping to design and deliver a pharmacy service that puts patients and professionals first and want to be part of an ambitious journey from day one we'd love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

As Superintendent Pharmacist and Managing Director you will lead the design, launch and ongoing delivery of a high quality pharmacy supply and dispensing service supporting inpatient wards and community services across RDaSH. This is a senior leadership role with overall responsibility for patient safety and regulatory compliance. You will also be responsible for service excellence while shaping a commercially sustainable operation that enhances access to medicines and improves patient experience.

You will provide clear professional and clinical leadership to a newly formed pharmacy team by setting standards and building capability as well as establishing safe and efficient ways of working from day one. Alongside your clinical accountability as Superintendent Pharmacist you will oversee:

  • Operational performance
  • Workforce planning
  • Financial management and governance, ensuring services meet national standards and deliver tangible benefits for patients and clinicians

Looking to the future you will play a pivotal role in developing the Trust's wholly owned pharmacy subsidiary. You will influence strategy and identify opportunities for growth and helping position the service for expansion into new markets. Success in this role means delivering a trusted and resilient pharmacy operation that combines clinical excellence with innovation and strong leadership with a clear focus on patient-centred care.
