Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker to join a specialist drug and alcohol support service in Trowbridge. This is a full-time contract opportunity ideal for an experienced Recovery Worker, Substance Misuse Practitioner, or Drug and Alcohol Support Worker looking to make a meaningful impact within a community-based service.

The Role

As a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker, you will provide structured support to individuals affected by drug and alcohol dependency. You will manage a caseload of service users, delivering recovery-focused interventions, harm reduction advice, and personalised care planning to support sustained recovery outcomes.

This role requires strong risk assessment skills, experience in safeguarding, and the ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of clients experiencing substance misuse issues.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments including risk assessments and recovery planning.
  • Develop and deliver personalised recovery plans focused on harm reduction and long-term recovery goals.
  • Provide brief interventions, psychosocial support, and relapse prevention strategies.
  • Support clients with referrals to specialist services including housing, mental health, and employment support.
  • Deliver needle exchange, harm reduction advice, and overdose prevention guidance where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records in line with data protection and service standards.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals, probation services, social care, and community partners.
  • Contribute to safeguarding processes and multi-agency meetings when required.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Previous experience working as a Substance Misuse Recovery Worker, Drug and Alcohol Practitioner, or in a similar addiction support role.
  • Experience managing a caseload within a community or treatment setting.
  • Knowledge of harm reduction principles and recovery-based approaches.
  • Strong assessment and risk management skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding procedures and multi-agency working.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualification in Health & Social Care, Substance Misuse, or Counselling (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Experience delivering structured interventions or group work programmes.
  • Knowledge of criminal justice pathways linked to substance misuse services.
