Job Description

Contract type: Full Time (37.5 hours) - Permanent

Location: Leeds, Leeds International Study Centre

Salary: up to £42,335.99 per annum

Leeds International Study Centre and its programmes are provided by Study Group in collaboration with the University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University.

You will work with colleagues across the Centre to ensure the effective delivery of teaching programmes in line with our education strategy, broader scholarship, and aims for an outstanding student experience. You will also contribute directly to student support and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices across the Centre. As a subject lead, you will contribute to the design, development, and production of teaching and learning materials and delivery across a range of modules or within a subject area. The Subject Lead role may also have programme management responsibility of an IY1 programme. The role is supported through remission against overall teaching hours, proportionate to the volume of students on the programme.

ABOUT THE ROLE
  1. Provide academic coordination for designated module(s) in the role of Subject Lead
  2. Provide operational day-to-day management and support for a specified group of full-time and/or sessional tutors
  3. Participate in regular meetings with teaching and support staff contributing to the effective overall management of the programmes and the student lifecycle
  4. Supervise progression tracking and similar student outcome-focused initiatives within a discrete subject area, reporting to the Head of Department and Head of Curriculum and Progression
  5. Deputise for the Head of Department when necessary
  6. Contribute to the design, delivery, and development of modules offered by the centre
  7. Contribute to the delivery and assessment of provision
  8. Prepare module examinations and other forms of formative and summative assessment, mark, and provide feedback to students
  9. Update and maintain the Virtual Learning Environments (VLE, Studysmart)
  10. Work with the centre's Student Experience Team, Registry, and Operations Team in the delivery of induction, orientation, and registration programmes
  11. Liaise with the Progression, Welfare, and Support team to support students in achieving their progression aims
  12. Represent the department at external events, e.g., enhancement and engagement activities with partner universities
  13. Engage in scholarly activity to ensure the delivery of modules is current
  14. Implement quality assurance procedures at module level and contribute to the annual monitoring and review of the programme to achieve high standards
  15. Use centre systems to log and monitor student attendance
  16. Maintain accurate records of student engagement
  17. Complete sponsor reports and academic reports for students
  18. Undertake activities such as VLE development and peer observation
  19. Conduct teaching, learning, and assessment observations and staff development plans to ensure standards within the subject area
  20. Perform any other duties as required by senior staff
  21. Promote health, safety, and wellbeing of students and colleagues, ensuring personal accountability for safety
ABOUT YOU
  1. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject area
  2. A Master's qualification is desirable
  3. A PhD is highly welcomed
  4. Experience of teaching in UK higher or further education, preferably with a teaching qualification and international student experience
