About the School

William Ellis School is a thriving, voluntary aided, non denominational, inclusive comprehensive boys' school serving the educational needs of boys from the ages of 11 to 18. It is an attractive site on the edge of Hampstead Heath with excellent access to Central London. It is a neighbourhood of great social and cultural diversity, and this diversity is very well represented at William Ellis.

The school is committed to nurturing successful students and good citizens through strong relationships in line with the school motto, "rather use than fame". The school is part of the longest established and most successful mixed sixth form consortium in London, LaSWAP, which enables our students to access a wide range of subject expertise. We provide excellent professional opportunities for staff and are part of the Camden family of schools.

About the role

The school wishes to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Pastoral Support Assistant for a full time post. The successful candidate will play a key role in the school. The Pastoral side of the school is very impressive with fantastic support. Ideally you will have similar experience working in a secondary environment and be available to start very soon.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide pastoral support to students experiencing difficulties on a day to day basis.
  • Work as part of the team that responds to challenging behaviour.
  • Provide information, advice and structured intervention to enable students to make positive choices about their behaviour, attendance and social interaction.
  • Liaise with staff, parents and relevant outside agencies to provide appropriate intervention for students experiencing disruption to their learning.
  • Liaise with support staff and teachers to share strategies for support.
  • Develop strong links between the school and families to improve educational opportunities for students and promote a positive attitude towards school.
  • Adopt the keyworker role for named students, including monitoring their progress, attending any relevant meetings and reporting any concerns to the SENCo and SCR Supervisor.
  • Comply with confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.
Application

Applications can be submitted through the school website or through ETeach.

We look forward to hearing from you.
