South West/ temporary / £25 - 35 per hour

TeacherActive is proud to be working in partnership with Gloucestershire Alternative Provision and the Local Authority to recruit a Student Mentor. This specialist provision supports children and young people accessing education outside of mainstream settings, delivering personalised interventions that promote wellbeing, increase engagement and help learners achieve positive educational outcomes.

We are looking to appoint a Student Mentor on a long-term basis starting in September.

The successful Student Mentor will work on a one-to-one basis with young people in home and community settings, delivering tailored mentoring that encourages attendance, builds confidence and supports learners in achieving their educational and personal goals.

The successful Student Mentor will have:

• Proven experience working with children and young people within education, youth work, mentoring, coaching or support roles.
• Experience supporting learners with SEMH, SEND, behavioural needs, anxiety or those at risk of disengaging from education.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to work independently and adapt support to meet individual learner needs.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records.
• A patient, resilient, empathetic and proactive approach.
• A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable due to travel between settings.
