Job Description
Strategy Planning and Market Intelligence Manager

Location: Dublin (Hybrid - 2 days in office), travel to London and/or Reading offices required. Full time, permanent.

Joining BordGáisEnergy as a strategy leader, you will support the development of the Retail Consumer Function strategy, translating Centrica Home strategy into actionable plans. Your role emphasises strategy definition, market intelligence, competitive insight and Irish market dynamics, informing commercial, operational and net zero ambitions.

Responsibilities
  • Own the end to end development of the Retail Home strategy, providing high quality analysis and insight.
  • Accountable for the end to end Shape / planning process for BordGáis Retail, coordinating inputs and ensuring alignment with financial plans.
  • Develop assumptions and market sizing, coordinate input from Irish teams to shape the process.
  • Own the market sizing model and forecasts for BordGáis consumer markets.
  • Own strategic performance tracking, including defining KPIs, monitoring delivery and recommending interventions.
  • Lead cross functional alignment across Commercial, Finance and Operations to deliver agreed strategic priorities.
  • Act as a bridge between BordGáis Energy Consumer, Centrica Home team and Group Strategy, translating strategy into an Irish market context.
  • Build a strong understanding of the Irish energy and services market, including customer needs, regulatory environment and market dynamics.
  • Deliver ongoing market intelligence - competitor analysis, product benchmarking and tracking of market trends.
  • Assess feasibility and achievable outcomes in the Irish market, informing strategy, product development and prioritisation decisions.
  • Lead evaluation of M&A and partnerships for BordGáis retail growth, aligned with Centrica Home growth strategy.
  • Define, prioritise and track delivery of strategic initiatives and transformation overlays, from concept to validation, working closely with cross functional teams.
  • Monitor and analyse trends in net zero, decarbonisation and low carbon technologies, with a focus on implications for future products and services.
  • Support alignment of strategic thinking with Irish and EU climate and emissions targets.
  • Produce clear, concise insights and materials for senior stakeholders to support decision making.
  • Coordinate areas and final submissions throughout the Shape, GAP and reforecasting process.
  • Ensure the Retail Home plan is incorporated into the BordGáis Energy Enterprise level company plan.
  • Provide strategic direction and challenge to senior stakeholders, including BordGáis LT and Centrica Home LT.
  • Lead and coordinate a small strategy team and cross functional (virtual) teams to deliver strategic priorities.
  • Address complex business questions, forming reasoned conclusions and practical recommendations.
  • Develop and apply original analytical approaches, models and scenarios to explore strategic choices, assess risks and opportunities.
  • Make discretionary decisions within regulatory frameworks and governance requirements.
  • Balance commercial viability, customer impact, regulatory constraints, operational feasibility and decarbonisation objectives when recommending options.
  • Work autonomously in day to day problem solving, with final approval from senior leaders.
  • Adapt recommendations in response to changing market conditions and shifting priorities.
Qualifications
  • Significant experience in strategy, planning, energy, utilities or related sectors.
  • Experience in corporate strategy or management consulting.
  • Proven track record of owning strategy development and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Experience leading cross functional initiatives and delivering strategic outcomes.
  • Strong understanding of the Irish market, with experience analysing competition, customer behaviour or market dynamics.

  • Interest in, or exposure to, the energy transition, net zero products and sustainability topics.
  • Ability to translate complex or high level strategic concepts into practical, local market insights.
  • Strong financial modelling skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, including data interpretation, trend analysis, and qualitative insight.
  • Excellent communication skills, confident working across teams and stakeholders, including Group partners.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, evolving environment and supporting multiple workstreams.
  • Balance strategic thinking with practical market insight.
  • Strong collaborator, capable of working effectively across BordGáisEnergy and the wider Centrica Group.
  • Motivation to develop deep expertise in the Irish energy and services landscape and contribute to the net zero transition.
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity.
