The Cardiac Catheter Lab at Musgrove Park Hospital is looking to recruit an enthusiastic band 5 nurse/ dual qualified individual that would like to develop their skills and career within Cardiology. We are looking for a nurse that has excellent communication skills, interpersonal and time management skills, and can be a committed team player with the ability to work collaboratively with other departments involved in delivering care to cardiac patients within the Lab

We value our RGNs highly, so development and training within this role will be offered and prioritised. There is an expectation that hours are worked flexibly over a rota basis which does include nights and weekends.
You will require good communication skills, a team work approach and be able provide a high standard of nursing care with the support of your team.

Main duties of the jobTo deliver patient care on a daily basis, using the systems in place in the department for a multi-disciplinary approach to patient centred care delivery, which builds on the philosophy of greater involvement of patients and their relatives/carers by using the Trusts patient and public involvement strategy.
Experienced Band 5 post holders will also provide effective clinical and managerial leadership of the department, in the absence of the senior members of the team, which empowers staff to deliver patient centred, evidence based nursing care
The Cardiac Cath lab is situated within the Duchess Building at Musgrove and has 3 dedicated hybrid labs as well as a Day Case unit which operates as a radial lounge. We provide acute and elective coronary work for the whole of Somerset, performing over 1000 PCIs, including 250 PPCIs per year. We can offer our patients a range of specialist cardiac services from diagnostic testing and imaging, complex PCI including Shockwave, CSI, and Laser alongside a well established CTO service. We also offer a range of pacing services from basic to complex devices (ICD/CRT &sICD) The unit is very forward thinking and consistently reviewing its practices to expand our clinical services and meet the needs of our ever growing population

Person Specification Qualifications- RGN
- Diploma and working or willing to work towards degree level.
- Willingness to undertake training and develop competencies in the specialist skills of the ward speciality.
- Maintain NMC registration by Revalidating and work within the NMC Code of Professional conduct.
- Experience of current evidence based practise in Cardiology nursing.
- Confident and able to relate to staff, patients and relatives in a professional manner relevant to the environment
- Ability to motivate self and others.
- Able to lead and work as an integral part of the ward team.
- Empathy when giving sensitive information.
- Willingness to use technology to improve standards of care and support to our patients
- Works well in a busy environment.
