The laboratory is fully accredited by the Irish National accreditation Board, Reg no 153MT and the Hospital is JCI accredited. The Consultant lead Microbiology Laboratory examines a diverse range of specimens for bacterial, fungal, viral and parasitic infections and consists of the main bacteriology laboratory, a Serology laboratory, full molecular suite and CL3 laboratory processing Enteric and Mycobacterium work.
The ideal candidate must:- Be eligible for membership of The Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine and must also be a registered Medical Scientist with CORU or provide evidence of application number if currently awaiting registration
- Have the required qualifications for a Medical Scientist post as stipulated by the Department of Health
- Experience in Microbiology is desirable
- Have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
- Be flexible and capable of working independently and as part of a team
- Be innovative, enthusiastic and self-motivated
