Job Description

Location: Little Hulton, Salford Salary: £112.50 per day Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-Time Long-Term Opportunity We are working with a fantastic primary school in Little Hulton to recruit a passionate Sports Coach / SEN Teaching Assistant to join their specialist SEN provision from September.

This exciting hybrid role is perfect for someone with a sports coaching background who is looking to make a real difference in education.

You'll spend the majority of your time supporting pupils within the school's dedicated SEN unit while also delivering engaging sports sessions that encourage confidence, teamwork, communication and physical development.

The SEN unit supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech and Language needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Every child has an EHCP, and the school prides itself on creating a nurturing and inclusive environment where pupils can thrive.

The Role

Support pupils within the school's specialist SEN unit on a 1:1 and small group basis.

Deliver fun, structured sports and physical activity sessions tailored to individual abilities.

Use sport as a tool to promote communication, confidence, teamwork and emotional regulation.

Support pupils with classroom learning, interventions and daily routines.

Encourage positive behaviour through engaging and active learning opportunities.

Work closely with teachers and SEN staff to help pupils achieve their EHCP targets.

Build positive relationships with pupils and become a consistent role model throughout the school day.

The Ideal Candidate

Experience as a Sports Coach, PE Coach or Sports Graduate is highly desirable.

Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs is advantageous but not essential.

A positive, energetic and patient approach.

Ability to motivate and engage pupils through sport and practical activities.

Strong behaviour management and communication skills.

Able to use initiative and adapt to changing situations.

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

What We Can Offer - £112.50 per day.

Full-time, Monday-Friday role (8:30am-3:30pm).
