Speech and Language Therapy Advanced Clinical PractitionerThe closing date is 16 November 2025
An exciting opportunity has become available for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner within the Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service of Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
In the role you will be practicing autonomously as an advanced clinical practitioner within the designated speciality area to provide patient-centred clinical care which will encompass the skills of advanced clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis and treatment within their professional scope of practice.
You will need to demonstrate safe, competent clinical decision-making and expert care, demonstrating advanced clinical critical thinking to meet the needs of service users.
You will work collaboratively with wider speech and language teams and stakeholders to maintain the delivery of highest quality, integrated speech and language therapy, supporting the delivery of policy and procedure to sustain the delivery of quality, evidenced based care.
In the role you will use your passion, enthusiasm and specialist knowledge of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) and advanced clinical practice to meet all of the four pillars of advanced practice, to lead on service development and delivery.
Main duties of the job- To undertake independent assessment, diagnosis and evaluate treatment and care for patients presenting with a wide range of highly complex speech and language therapy needs.
- Diagnose as a highly specialist speech and language therapist for a wide range of conditions following expert assessment of patient need and in line with current clinical guidance.
- To lead by example to promote excellence in clinical practice through the integration of expert clinical practice, education and consultancy, acting as an expert resource to support clinical care delivery.
- Act as a role model, educator, supervisor, coach and mentor, seeking to instil and develop the confidence and competence of others across the wider service.
- To provide specialist education pathways and development for speech and language therapists and other colleagues through the delivery of education, supervision and training pathways.
- Evaluate and audit own and others' clinical practice, actively participating in the speech and language therapy/care pathway audit agenda, including management of change in response to outcomes
- To work in partnership with wider statutory and non-statutory teams and care providers to promote and support the delivery of local and national agendas relevant to caseload/local population.

Person Specification Qualifications- Professional relevant qualification such as BSc in Speech and Language Therapy and Registration as a Speech and Language Therapist with HCPC
- Approved post graduate MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice or equivalent relevant postgraduate study
- Level 3 Safeguarding Training
- Teaching qualification
- Extensive clinical experience working within children's speech and language therapy services
- Extensive experience of the Safeguarding agenda within children and families
- Evidence of mentoring, supervising and staff development
- Experience of unsupervised working and advanced clinical and shared decision making
- Experience in the management of specialist areas of speech and language therapy such as delivery of training to the Local Education Authorities
- Experience of coordination and delivering speech and language therapy services
- Experience of working in partnership with external stakeholders to promote and deliver the speech and language services
