Responsibilities and Qualifications

• Provide assessment and intervention for adults with complex intellectual or physical disability, including individuals with complex communication and swallowing needs.
• Practice trauma informed, person centred care, recognising the impact of communication differences, sensory processing needs, and life experiences on engagement with services.
• Assess and manage complex communication and swallowing needs, including complex communication disorders associated with intellectual disability, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), dysphagia assessment and management, and supporting communication in individuals with sensory, behavioural or cognitive needs.
• Develop communication supports and strategies across environments, and deliver services in community based settings with collaboration among families, carers, residential services and community providers.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary team assessment, care planning and coordinated interventions, and to clinical governance, service development, quality improvement initiatives and practice education within Speech and Language Therapy services.
