We are seeking an experienced full-time Specialty Doctor to work at Cygnet Lodge Salford, providing psychiatric care within our mental health rehabilitation service for women.

Main duties of the job

Cygnet Lodge Salford is a high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) service for women. The service supports 24 individuals with a primary diagnosis of mental illness, who may also have complex secondary diagnoses, including personality disorders. The service can also offer community rehabilitation (level 1) support in the step-down flats on the hospital site.

Professionally accountable to: Consultant Psychiatrist

Managerially responsible to: Hospital Manager

We seek an outstanding Specialty or Associate Specialist Doctor for a full-time position at Cygnet Lodge Salford, providing psychiatric care within our mental health rehabilitation service for women. You will be actively involved as a practicing psychiatrist, supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist and a multidisciplinary team.

The service supports women often following multiple placement breakdowns, failed treatment programs, or stepping down from secure settings. It is designed with wellness in mind, providing a safe, comfortable environment that promotes rehabilitation and recovery. Main duties and responsibilities
  • Provide routine medical and psychiatric support, including initial clerking and mental state examinations of new admissions.
  • Assess, investigate, diagnose, and treat inpatients under Consultant supervision.
  • Maintain effective communication with ward nursing staff, mental health professionals, and other agencies.
  • Participate in weekly ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings, including CPA, Tribunal hearings, and Section 117 meetings.
  • Keep comprehensive records of assessments and interventions.
  • Prepare discharge summaries following policies and guidelines.
  • Attend mandatory training such as BLS, ILS, PMVA, infection control, and H&S.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives, staff, and other stakeholders, maintaining appropriate reports.
  • Participate in regional on-call rota as needed.
