Job overview

This is a full-time appointment for a Specialty Doctor to work on general-adult inpatient wards (Bronte and Blake Wards in Laureate House). The role involves working with a multidisciplinary team including consultant psychiatrists, trainees, GPs, nurses, occupational therapists, psychologists, and support workers.

Main duties of the job
  1. Clinical role:
    • Attend ward rounds, conduct reviews, and create management plans.
    • Complete, review, and authorize discharge summaries.
    • Prepare tribunal reports and present evidence at hearings (MHA work).
    • Assess and manage physical health of patients.
    • Participate in clinical decision making to ensure high-quality care.
    • Contribute to developing service priorities following guidelines and standards.
    • Engage in clinical governance activities such as audits and quality improvement projects.
  2. Educational roles:
    • Supervise and support doctors in training.
    • Teach medical students and trainees.
  3. Leadership roles:
    • Lead clinical decision making within the multidisciplinary team.
    • Develop service priorities aligned with national standards.
    • Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.

Person specification Qualifications
  • Medical Degree
  • Full GMC Registration
  • At least 4 years of postgraduate experience
  • Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 3 months of appointment
  • GMC registration with a license to practice at appointment
  • In good standing with GMC
