We are looking for a Specialty Doctor in Oncology to join our existing Oncology team.
Recent strategic developments across the area as part of the Sustainability and Transformation Plan (STP) has seen the creation of a single integrated medical team for Oncology working across the three acute trust - Southend, Basildon and Broomfield in Chelmsford. This role will work from Southend Hospital to support the oncology service on site.
The vision for this larger single team will facilitate cross cover, support increased sub specialisation and facilitate individual job plans in line with Royal College Guidance on tumour site cover.

Main duties of the jobWithin your role you will:
- Provide comprehensive oncological support to patients at Mid Essex Hospital, working closely with Consultants, junior doctors, and the palliative care nursing team.
- Manage patient care and offer expert advice and support to clinical teams within Mid Essex Hospital and occasionally across other sites.
- Assess and monitor patients undergoing outpatient chemotherapy.
- Participate in and contribute to relevant multidisciplinary team meetings (MDMs), which are essential for patient management.
- Support consultant-led outpatient clinics and provide cover for colleagues during periods of leave, as required.
- Participate actively in the Acute Oncology Service to ensure prompt and effective care.
- Provide cover for the chemotherapy unit as needed.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the multidisciplinary team to maintain a high-quality, safe service for patients at all times.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional standards.
- Engage in continuing medical education and professional development, supported by funded study leave.
- Participate in clinical audits and related administrative duties associated with patient care.

Person Specification Qualifications- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- MRCP
- Experience of working in oncology and associated specialties.
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Full GMC registration
