Job Description
Specialist Therapist / Team Lead

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, dedicated and innovative physiotherapist to join the inpatient team at Wrightington Hospital.

The role is for 37.5 hours per week at the North West Centre of Excellence for Orthopaedics, primarily Monday to Friday with some weekend duties.

You will provide management and rehabilitation for patients who have undergone routine and complex elective orthopaedic procedures and see trauma patients at RAEI as required.

You will provide clinical and developmental leadership to a dedicated team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and therapy assistants, and lead projects to enhance and develop the service.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide clinical leadership in a designated area and plan and organise patient management efficiently.
  • Maintain own clinical professional development (CPD) and incorporate new trends into practice.
  • Set priorities for own work area and align them with service objectives.
  • Ensure evidence based care and high standards of treatment.
  • Manage and develop designated staff, including supervision, training and appraisal.
  • Plan and run rostering for the 7 day service and recruit and select team members on elective and trauma sites.
  • Participate in service improvement projects and audit initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communicate assessment and treatment results to relevant disciplines.
  • Represent the Trust externally and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance and manage risk effectively.
  • Provide teaching and training to staff, students and carers.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy.
  • Registered with HCPC.
  • Evidence of relevant postgraduate clinical education and CPD.
  • Active membership of relevant special interest group.
  • Completed Clinical Educators course.
Experience
  • Postgraduate experience in a variety of patient areas, including trauma, orthopaedics and complex conditions.
  • Supervision of qualified staff.
  • Participation in service improvements and clinical audit.
  • Experience at Band 7 or equivalent level.
  • Experience delivering training relevant to area of practice.
Skills
  • Self directed learning and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including capacity to give clear instruction and coaching.
  • Leadership and team development.
  • Knowledge of therapy interventions, clinical governance, medical ethics and national policies.
  • Ability to maintain judgement under pressure and work within legal frameworks.
  • Strong data collection, audit and evidence based practice skills.
Benefits

Salary: £49,387 to £56,515 per annum (pro rata).
