The Sensory Inclusion Service has a vacancy for a 2 day peripatetic teacher of the deaf or a qualified teacher for visual impairment. The role is based in Crewe and involves supporting children and young people within homes, schools and other settings. A clean, current driving licence and a vehicle are required.
Pay will depend on experience and is outlined below:
- MPS Min £32,916 - MPS Max £45,352 + SEN £2,787 to £5,497
- UPS Min £47,472 - UPS Max £51,048 + SEN £2,787 to £5,497
The successful candidates will provide support to children and young people with hearing loss or vision impairment, working collaboratively with parents, carers and a range of professionals. They will be part of a friendly and proactive team committed to delivering an excellent service for children and young people with hearing loss and/or vision impairment. Teachers on the team receive continuous professional development and performance management.
Responsibilities- Provide support within homes, settings and schools.
- Collaborate with parents, carers and professionals.
- Assist with assessments, report writing and attendance at annual reviews and multi agency meetings.
- Advising settings on reasonable adjustments required to enable access.
- Assist with the development of language and communication in children and young people where appropriate.
- Promote safeguarding and multi agency working.
Candidates should:
- Have experience working with children and young people with hearing loss or vision impairment.
- Be committed to multi agency working and safeguarding.
- Have strong interpersonal and teamwork skills; flexible and committed to improving outcomes.
- Qualified teacher of the deaf with a British Sign Language Level 2 qualification.
- Good knowledge of language and communication development in children and young people with hearing loss.
- Knowledge of audiology and experience conducting assessments, writing reports, and attending reviews and multi agency meetings.
- Confidence in advising settings on reasonable adjustments.
- Good knowledge of technology and braille.
- Confidence in assessing functional vision, considering overall needs of children, and advising settings on reasonable adjustments.
- Experience writing reports and attending reviews and multi agency meetings.
