Luma Education Recruitment is working with a specialist education provision in Colchester to appoint a dedicated Specialist Teacher to support a small group of young people with additional learning and behavioural needs.
This is an opportunity for a teacher who enjoys working in a small, highly personalised learning environment, where teaching can be adapted around individual pupils rather than following a traditional classroom model.
The RoleThe successful candidate will take responsibility for planning and delivering a personalised programme of education, helping pupils to re-engage with learning and make meaningful academic and personal progress.
Key responsibilities will include:Planning and delivering engaging lessons across a range of subjects.
Adapting teaching to meet individual learning needs and abilities.
Supporting pupils with SEMH, SEN, EBD and behavioural needs.
Establishing positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
Using consistent and effective classroom management strategies.
Supporting pupils who have experienced disrupted education or significant barriers to learning.
Assessing and recording pupil progress.
Contributing to individual education plans, EHCPs and PEPs.
Working collaboratively with support staff, families and external professionals.
Preparing pupils for qualifications, further education, employment and greater independence.
Maintaining a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
