Job Description

The shift pattern for this post is: Monday - Friday 08:30 - 16:45, 37 hours per week including participation in weekend working.

We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced clinical pharmacist with excellent communication skills to join the Pre Operative pharmacy team in NHS GG&C which will include an in patient clinical role in the critical care team at Glasgow Royal Infirmary with potential for future involvement in the surgical in patient clinical service. You will be part of our team helping to shape an award winning service aimed at improving outcomes for surgical patients across the health board. The Pre Operative pharmacy service operates a number of clinic based services in which you will participate, consulting directly with patients and working closely with surgical and anaesthetic colleagues. In critical care you will attend daily ward rounds, working closely with the MDT. You will be an active member of the multidisciplinary team participating in team meetings, research and quality improvement. You will support the development of our technical staff and foundation pharmacists and trainees. You will act as a source of information and prescribing support providing information on all aspects of drug use including patient safety and contributing to strategic plans for modern pharmacy services. Opportunities to advance your clinical practice in line with the Advanced Practice Curriculum is encouraged.

Glasgow Royal Infirmary is a busy teaching hospital situated in the North of Glasgow and has an excellent team of friendly pharmacy staff committed to modernisation of services and in particular ward based medicines management, pharmacist prescribing and e health initiatives.

You should have a Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. You should have completed or are currently undertaking the NES Foundation Level Training or equivalent. Experience in a pre op setting, clinics or a critical care environment would be advantageous but not essential.

The working pattern will be Monday to Friday with participation in weekend, public holiday and on call shifts.
