We are currently offering a full time, permanent position, as Specialist Nurse in the Cared for Children Health Team based predominantly in the community site but covering the MFT footprint.
This post is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, committed and experienced nurse with an interest in safeguarding and looked after children to address the health needs of looked after children. You will be a key member of the safeguarding and looked after children service that consists of Named Nurses (community, acute, adult and midwifery services), Specialist Nurses for Safeguarding, and Looked after Children, Multi-Agency Safeguarding and Complex Safeguarding Hub Specialist Nurses and Administration staff.
You will be given the opportunity to receive safeguarding/ looked after children development, supervision and training within a highly motivated and committed team. An annual appraisal and regular management one to one reviews are also provided, as is the chance to attend relevant mandatory and other training pertinent to the role.
Main duties of the jobTo succeed, you will need to be highly motivated to ensure safe and effective services for safeguarding and looked after children remains a priority for all of our staff working within the organisation across acute and community services. You will need excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills and a flair for critically evaluating information and recording it in a concise and accurate manner. Comfortable working under pressure, adept at prioritising and working flexibly often to tight a deadline you will be well supported to further your own professional knowledge, skills and development within this highly specialised area.

Person Specification QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE- Registered Nurse
- Significant experience of working with young people in a health care or educational setting
- Knowledge of child development and health needs of teenagers and young people
- Excellent knowledge of issues pertinent to Looked after Children/Young People
- Evidence of direct work with Looked After Children/Young People
- Experience and contribution to single and multi disciplinary audit processes
- Evidence of multi agency working
- Evidence of recent relevant Continual Professional Development
- Family planning / Sexual Health qualification
- Child or Adolescent Mental Health qualification
- Appropriate leadership courses
- Qualification in safeguarding supervision
- Accredited training qualification
- Experience of policy development and implementation
- Excellent communication skills and ability to provide effective written and verbal reports.
- Well developed presentation skills. Strong analytical skills
- Evidence of effective organisational skills.
- Evidence of current knowledge of local and national policies and practice relating to Looked After Children and relevant professional and NHS policy initiatives
