We are excited to advertise the Network Lead for Oral Surgery post for our Network. The post is mainly clinical but there will be allocated time for managerial activities.
The appointee will be responsible for providing clinical care at specialist level and leadership across the Network in oral surgery. This person will be the Trust's internal clinical expert and reference point for oral surgery services and will work with the Clinical Directors and Operational Managers in each area to ensure that patients receive the very best care from the Trust.
Reporting professionally to the Lead Clinical Director you will assist with any clinical matters relating to oral surgery and undertake duties as delegated by the Lead Clinical Director. You will attend relevant external and internal clinical networks, where necessary initiating and maintaining those networks. You may also be responsible for specialist trainees.
This role is largely clinical but also involves ensuring the clinical effectiveness of the oral surgery service in the Trust. It will be based at one of our clinical sites in C+M. Because of the size of the network we have a degree of flexibility as to where the successful candidate will work- we could offer a base in St Helens, Warrington, Chester, Widnes or Sandbach to suit.

Job responsibilities Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust plan to integrate and form a new organisation on the 1st April 2026. As such, if your start date is on or after 1st April 2026, you will be employed by the newly formed organisation. Should you join Bridgewater prior to this date, your employment will automatically transfer into the new organisation. The Trust wishes to appoint a dentist responsible for providing leadership in each area of current clinical practice. This person will be the Trust's internal clinical expert and reference point for the Trust's oral surgery and related services. This individual will work with the Network Clinical Director and Clinical Directors to ensure that patients receive the very best care from the Trust.
Work will be carried out in accordance with the Primary Care Trust Dental Service Directions 2006, or such successor Directions as may from time to time be enacted.
Reporting professionally to the Lead Clinical Director of Dental services you will assist with any clinical matters relating to oral surgery across the Trust footprint and undertake duties as delegated by the Lead Clinical Director of Dental services. You will attend relevant external and internal clinical networks, where necessary initiating and maintaining those networks.

Undertake appraisals, personal development plans and job plans for other dentists who work on the Tier 2 oral surgery contracts.
Provide advice about:
Actively participate in and manage others in relation to appraisal, peer review, clinical audit and continuing professional development activities; lead peer review, clinical audit or CPD activities.
Teaching and Training Organize clinical teaching and supervision programs for post-graduates in training programs, or for dentists in training.
Participate in clinical research under the direction of approved and registered research lead and take the lead in clinical research projects falling within your competencies.
