Job Description
Contract: Full Time , Permanent

Salary: 32000

Hours: 40 per week

A private day school for girls aged 11-18 located in the City of Westminster, London. Catering for about 600 students and teachers daily. We offer a core feeding of Breakfast AM & PM break, lunch, and 6th Form café. There is also some hospitality at this location. It operates Monday to Friday and is Term Time only. This location benefits from great transport links.

We currently have an excellent opportunity for a creative and effective Sous Chef to join the team at one of our fabulous locations in London.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare all Food service areas for the day's business relating to that meal service.
  • Ensure prompt service of all meals and service at all times to the company / clients standards.
  • Ensure methods of preparation and presentation comply with company expectations.
  • Prepare, set-up, serve, clear, clean, and store away food, beverages, or equipment required for daily service.
  • Prepare all food for sale/service, following good hygiene and safety practices and to the standard specified.
  • Restock and replenish stocks and consumables during service, pre-empt customer needs, and achieve optimal customer service.
  • Keep the Front of house informed of any food running out and pre-empt delays in customer waiting.
  • Complete necessary cleaning/hygiene duties.
  • Serve customers, visitors, and guests in line with company and client service standards.
  • Manage rubbish and recycling appropriately.
  • Assist in the preparation and placing of orders.
  • Ensure the kitchen operates in line with health & safety regulations.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen at the end of each shift.
  • Attend meetings and training courses as required.
  • Notify the head chef of stock movements for upcoming menus.

General Responsibilities:

  • Attend all staff meetings as required.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures of legislation and company standards.
  • Wear the correct uniform neatly and cleanly.
  • Maintain high personal presentation standards.
  • Carry out food temperature checks and other safety checks.
  • Respond to management requests reasonably.
  • Provide cover for staff absences when needed.
  • Report hazards related to Health & Safety.

Key personal skills and attributes:

  • Teamwork, listening skills, initiative, personal hygiene, and behavior.
  • Food hygiene certification preferred.
  • Adaptability, reliability, honesty, customer service orientation.
  • Willingness to learn and take responsibility.
  • Ability to manage heavy lifting and physical tasks.
  • Good verbal and written English skills.
  • Experience in customer service or food preparation preferred.
