Sous Chef - Hospitality and Fine Dining

Location: Bedfordshire

Sector: Education Catering

Salary: £39,832

Benefits

Responsibilities
  • Lead the kitchen team of 16, demonstrating strong leadership skills
  • Manage the hospitality and fine dining side of the kitchen, including canape, buffet, and formal sit down events
  • Coordinate catering for events, occasional weddings and other functions
  • Cater for approximately 1,200 people daily, ensuring high quality food and efficient service
  • Oversee food preparation, menu planning, inventory, and kitchen hygiene
  • Support a 5/7 day operation with flexibility for evenings and weekends as needed
Qualifications
  • Extensive experience as a Sous Chef, preferably in large dining environments (schools, staff dining, contract catering)
  • Proven ability to manage high volume catering operations
  • Excellent organisational and team management skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Strong communication and customer service orientation
Contract Details

Full time contract that runs throughout the year, with holidays aligned with educational calendars. Some flexibility is required for nights and weekends to support functions and events.
