Are you a qualified Solicitor working in litigation looking for your next challenge in a dynamic and fast paced environment? If so please read on as we might have the ideal role for you. We're looking for a Solicitor with 1 to 4 years post qualifying experience to join our established social housing litigation team in our Newcastle office, to support with housing disrepair claims.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join our successful team, working in our dedicated housing disrepair team in the management and defence of housing conditions claims.
You'll work with some of the firm's key clients, comprising both Housing Associations and Local Authorities to support them in dealing with housing disrepair. You'll be adept at working to challenging timescales with the ability to plan and organise effectively whilst maintaining exceptional client service through strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
What will I be doing?- You'll manage a case load of defended disrepair claims (primarily issued claims but to assist with pre litigation matters where required)
- Contribute to periodic reporting to clients as required by and agreed with those clients
- Assist with supervision of junior paralegals in dealing with pre-action disrepair claims
- Contribute to the department's wider business development objectives and initiatives to strengthen and expand client relationships
- Familiarity with the Civil Procedure Rules and experience in dealing with volume litigation (specific experience in disrepair claims is preferable but not essential).
- Commercial awareness of the factors relevant to volume defendant litigation
- Case management experience
- Advocacy and negotiation skills
- Strong time / diary management skills (including time recording)
- Legal research skills
- Excellent all round communication and interpersonal skills, as well as sound judgement
- An efficient and methodical approach
- Flexibility to adapt working styles and use different approaches where required
- Good prioritisation skills and be able to work with urgency to move matters forward
- The ability to work independently using your own initiative as well as working as part of a team
