Grade 8 (£52,413 to £56,730) plus market forces payment of 10% until 31 May 2028

The TeamThe multi award winning City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking an enthusiastic Solicitor/Barrister to join our dynamic and hardworking Social Care and Education Legal team.

ResponsibilitiesBased within the legal department, you will:
- Provide legal advice and representation to our adult social department
- Manage your own varied caseload including but not limited to:
- Applications to the court of protection including S21a challenges
- Mental Capacity and deprivation of liberty including Re X applications
- Applications to displace nearest relatives
- Mental health queries
- Ordinary residence disputes
- Continuing Health Funding disputes and commissioning of services
- Community care issues
- Advice and duties under the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983
- Forced marriage matters involving adults
- Inquests
- Judicial Review
- Advise senior officers within the local authority
- Be actively involved in client care and business development
The successful candidate will be a solicitor or Barrister (equivalent legal qualifications will be considered) with demonstrable experience in adult social care law.
Local government experience is an advantage although not essential and applications from private practice are welcomed.
This post is subject to a satisfactory standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
